While his career is still young, A.J. Kotchavar’s skill and enthusiasm for the game are difficult to match. Coach Kotchavar is an excellent catcher, and knows quite a bit about the important details that produce great statistics, such as on-base percentage and fielding details.
- 2003-04 played collegiate baseball at East Texas Baptist University
- NCAA Division III American Southwest Conference catcher
- American Southwest Conference All Academic Team
- Led all ETBU catchers in fielding percentage, passed balls and stolen bases allowed
- 2004 signed with the Apollos of the Big States League
- 2004-06 helped lead Apollos to 3 League Championships
- Worked out for Cincinnati Reds and Tampa Bay Devil Rays MLB organizations
- Finished each season among the “Top 5” in the Big States League in many statistical categories, including: batting average, on-base percentage, hits and fielding percentage
- Finished professional career with a .309 batting average and .966 fielding percentage
